(Update: while Dr. Raoult’s findings have been compelling, the fact that the president endorsed hydroxychloroquine as a potential treatment caused an enormous backlash that sought to undermine the efforts of researchers like Raoult and others. A subsequent smaller study by the VA, seemed to result in much different findings, although it was not controlled. While I plan to post on other topics, this blog may focus on the coronavirus pandemic and COVID-19 for an extended time. I have now written three articles on the topic, read more than 200 research studies and watched about 100 interviews with ICU and ER doctors from the U.S., China, France, Italy, Wales and Hong Kong, as well as interviews with infectious disease experts, virologists, microbiologists, public health officials and epidemiologists.
The accumulated knowledge, and my documentation of the events as they unfold, will end up in some future articles for either consumer/newsstand magazines or in a book.
At this time, one of the most important considerations in our battle against this deadly virus is to find treatment protocols that work and are effective for most people; especially the critically ill.
