Youtuber Dave Drew says it clearly; people over 60 are told to take it easy. This is the worst thing you can do. He says that taking it easy and slowing down is the worst thing you can do. I agree. Dave says that you have to fight the voice inside that tells you to just keep sitting on the couch or convinces you to ignore getting exercise. This voice is not your friend. When you just don’t feel like hitting those weights (myself sometimes) or taking that bike ride or just getting up and moving, this is a mistake and many older people fall into this trap.
Dave lays it out succinctly and concisely and from a point of common sense. He says that “you don’t go soft because of your age; you go soft because of a little conversation you have with yourself.” He says that slowing down doesn’t happen in “one big movement, but in a thousand small negotiations.”
I have always liked the sayings: “If you rest; you rust” and “A body in motion; stays in motion.” Dave’s argument for this will make sense to you.
